Karen Funk Blocher is a staff accountant with more than twenty years of experience in a variety of organizations, now specializing in non-profit and fund accounting. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Accounting. Karen has worked with numerous accounting systems, and developed new procedures to improve internal controls, efficiency and accuracy of data. She has designed a wide variety of reports in Excel, worked extensively with payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and performed reconciliations, allocations, budgeting, depreciation and journal and data entry functions. She has also prepared quarterly and annual reports for federal grants, written budgets and budget narratives, and assisted independent auditors by providing financial data for testing of transactions and balances. Born in Syracuse, New York, she moved from Columbus, Ohio to Tucson in 1986 with husband John after an epic road trip, “looking for someplace it wasn’t winter.” Karen has also written magazine articles, the backs of trading cards, several novelettes and a fantasy trilogy, edited newsletters, and has co-edited an anthology, Beyond Tucson, Adventures in the Multiverse. Married since 1979, Karen has one husband, two dogs, no kids and no cats.
