Melissa Gomez was born in Los Angeles, California, however has a strong tie to the Tucson community. She holds Bachelors of Arts in Psychology & Sociology from the University of Arizona and has experience working with Latino families in first generation student programs. Melissa has served the community through different volunteer outlets such as: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Tucson Clean and Beautiful, St. Jude’s Children Research, M.E.Ch.A., and as a founding sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration degree at the University of Southern California. In 2022, Melissa joined the City of Tucson Human Relations Commission as a commissioner.

During her time at Amistades, Melissa has developed, coordinated, implemented and provided technical assistance for various agency culturally-relevant programs targeting Latino families and community members in Southern Arizona.

Currently, Melissa serves as the Special Projects Manager. In her role, she organizes, leads, and assists in executing critical components of the organization, including contracts, grants management, program development, cultural preservation, finance and administrative activities. Additionally, Melissas works directly with the CEO serving as the Executive Assistant.
