Amistades is focused on creating new opportunities to strategically support our Latino community through world-class initiatives. Representation is crucial; seeing Latinos in key leadership roles empowers us all. Still, Latinos remain underrepresented in those roles. Nationally, less than 5% of non-profit CEOs are Latino and in Tucson, Latino CEOs are rare. It’s necessary that we address this by socializing, supporting, and strategizing with this important group of leaders.

We are excited to announce the launch of Tonalli, a Latino CEO CĂrculo specifically designed for nonprofit CEOs in Tucson. Tonalli, from our rich Nahuatl language, means "daylight" or "warmth of the sun," symbolizing the enlightenment and energy that leadership brings. This CĂrculo will nurture and illuminate Latino CEOs, empowering them to drive significant change in their organizations and communities.

Representation matters. Latino CEOs must have the tools needed to lead both Latino-serving and mainstream organizations. Through the Tonalli initiative, we will develop a replicable model so that anyone, anywhere in the country or the world, can cultivate the power of Latino CEO leadership.

As we move forward, let’s draw on our strengths, share our resources, and elevate each other, so that our community thrives. Thank you for being part of this journey, for your trust, and for your commitment to standing with Amistades.
