Working together with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Raíces Vivas is a school-based environmental education program that transforms underused campus spaces into vibrant, healing green areas rooted in culture and sustainability. Centered at the program restores native tree canopy and gardens while engaging students and families in hands-on urban forestry and environmental learning. Raíces Vivas emphasizes intergenerational education, cultural connection to land, and shared stewardship between schools and neighboring communities. Through this work, participants build environmental awareness, strengthen relationships, and create lasting green spaces that support wellness and belonging.
