The Your Story Project is a collaboration between Amistades, Inc., the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF), the University of Arizona Campus Health, the Office of LGBTQ Affairs, and the Pima Prevention Partnership. Funded by SAAF, Your Story targets bilingual racial/ethnic minority at-risk youth and young adults between the ages of 12-24 and serves 80 youth annually. The youth attend Tucson area Middle Schools, High Schools and the University of Arizona. This project uses Storytelling for Empowerment which is an evidence-based prevention intervention. It uses environmental strategies, such as outreach and information dissemination, to reduce use of substances and high-risk sexual behaviors, and provides HIV and VH testing to the target population. The Your Story project positions Amistades as the capacity provider to ensure the Latino expertise and perspective is provided in order to better serve the target population.
