Leaders in Action

Leaders in Action is focused on actively engaging youth in the community through youth leadership, prevention, and education on substance abuse, STI/HIV/AIDS, suicide, and bullying prevention and providing cultural enrichment. The project serves Latino youth, males and females, ages 15-20 in the Flowing Wells community. Goals for this project include covering topics such as substance abuse awareness, education and training, bullying and suicide prevention, HIV prevention and sexual health awareness, youth leadership development, team building, and cultural awareness. Currently, Leaders in Action utilizes a youth empowerment model, and is housed at Envision High School in the Chicanos Por La Causa district, with a total of 55 students. Leaders in Action is a sub-community of the Mayahuel UAD Prevention Project funded through the Pima County Community Development Block Grant.
