Mayahuel Edible Garden Project II

In February of 2024, Amistades was awarded one year of funding by the Community Food Bank, through their Thriving Communities Program to sustain the Mayahuel Edible Garden Project in Douglas, AZ which was originally funded by the USDA.  Based at the Liberty Traditional School, Mayahuel Edible Garden Project-II enhances the project by developing more hands-on activities for students, more crops to plant and harvest, and increasing the number of vegetables that are grown and incorporated into the daily lunches of students at the school.  Students learn valuable gardening skills that will benefit them and their families by planting gardens at their homes to provide fresh produce and eat healthier.
