Padres Comprometidos is a Unidos US parent engagement program whose primary outcome is the fostering of a strong connection between schools and parents. Padres Comprometidos builds the capacity of Latino parents to acquire the skills they need to effectively engage with schools and play a leading role in preparing their children for college. The program addresses language and culture as valuable skills, and strengthens confidence and empowerment. Through Padres Comprometidos, Amistades serves as the bridge between parent engagement and involvement in the schools. The program aims to change parent perceptions and knowledge regarding access to college, parent relationships with their children, and parent’s relationships with schools.
