TOBACCO YOUTH COALITION DEVELOPMENT

Since 2011, Amistades has provided training and technical assistance services in the area of tobacco youth coalition development as a member of a technical assistance team that includes Pima Prevention Partnership and Arizona Youth Partnership. Amistades serves six counties, specifically Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Santa Cruz, Yavapai, and Yuma. The purpose of the initiative is helping county health departments create their own tobacco youth coalition and enhancing existing coalitions. The initiative ultimately launches a tobacco policy change project led by the youth coalition through their local governments. Amistades provides onsite and conference call trainings on coalition development, using a Decision Tree strategy, recruitment, retention and provides assistance with the planning, coordination, and implementation of strategies and activities.
